Carlinkit Tbox Max Review
Carlinkit Tbox Max is the latest in a long line of CarPlay AI Boxes that offer a full Android tablet interface on your vehicle’s native touchscreen and a range of apps including music streaming, video (YouTube, Disney+), maps, weather and even games. This particular white box has a Qualcomm SD 660 chipset, 8GB of RAM and 128GB of storage that can be expanded via TF card or USB-A thumb drive. It also has SIM card support and HDMI out, and it’s all available for less than £170.
Like its cousin the CarlinKit Tbox Plus this is another solidly specced adapter that offers good wireless CarPlay and Android Auto performance, although it does suffer from some video sync issues with YouTube, Netflix and Waze. It has a solid and stable OS that runs pretty stock Android 13 with a functional, if ugly launcher and it gets OTA updates fairly regularly. It also has dual Bluetooth that allows you to use wireless controllers and remotes for app navigation and controller-based gaming, which is an added bonus.
Carlinkit Tbox Max: Taking Car Entertainment to the Next Level
It’s a little chunkier than some of its rivals but it still looks pretty smart and sits in your dashboard nicely with its minimal footprint. The build quality is excellent and it’s well rounded out by the inclusion of HDMI output, an internal microphone and support for a TF card or USB-A thumb drive for additional storage. It’s also a touch more expensive than some of its competition but if you need wireless CarPlay and want the option to connect a second display for multi-app viewing then this is one to consider.
